Trophy Valles Caldera Elk Hunts![]() If you are looking for true trophy elk hunt, this is it! The spectacular Valles Caldera National Preserve, previously called the Baca Ranch, is approximately 89,000 acres of high elevation forest and grasslands and is located in north central New Mexico. This magnificent piece of New Mexico is home to over 4,000 head of elk from April thru December. Located 50 miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Valles Caldera National Preserve is surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest, Bandelier National Monument, and the Santa Clara Pueblo. ![]() In addition to several antlerless hunts, five bull elk or either sex hunts are scheduled: two archery hunts; two rifle hunts; and a muzzleloader hunt. Seventy-three bull elk or either sex permits will be awarded to lucky hunters. We are one of only a handful of outfitters authorized to guide hunters on the VCNP. Over the years we have guided scores of hunters to trophy bighorn sheep, mule deer, cougar and black bear, however, our specialty has always been elk. We know elk and we know the country.
